Information we collect

We collect what you choose to send us through the forms on this site: your email address when you sign up for the Sunday Briefing or the free checklist, and your name, email address and message when you send a press release request, a guest post pitch or a general inquiry. We don't require an account and we don't take payment information through this site.

If you share your refer-a-friend link, we also record who signed up through it, so we can tell you which free guides you've unlocked. If you signed up through someone else's link, that person's referral count goes up by one. They don't see your email address.

How we use it

We use your information to answer your inquiry, handle your request (such as a press release or guest post submission), send the newsletter you signed up for, and send the guides you unlock through the refer-a-friend program. We don't sell your personal information to anyone.

Cookies and tracking

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site: which pages they read, where they click and how far they scroll, including recordings of visits with typed text hidden. Clarity sets cookies to do this. Microsoft's privacy statement explains how it handles that data.

The refer-a-friend program, run by UpViral, sets a cookie when you arrive through someone's share link, so your signup is credited to the person who sent you.

The first time you visit, a banner asks what you're happy with. Choose Essential only and we tell Clarity not to use cookies for your visits. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie choices link at the bottom of every page.

If you sign up for the newsletter, your browser keeps a note of it so we can stop showing you signup boxes. That note stays on your device and isn't sent to us.

We use the Meta Pixel, from Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), so we can show DMJ ads to people who have visited the site. Visitors in Europe only get it after choosing Accept, and anyone can switch it off with Essential only. If we add any other ad tag, we'll name it here first. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Voice assistant

The Talk to us button opens a live voice call with our AI assistant. Your microphone isn't used until you press Start talking, and your browser asks you first. Calls last up to 5 minutes.

The assistant runs on the Agentic Agency platform. During a call, your voice streams from your browser to the platform's voice service and the AI model provider it uses, so the assistant can hear you and answer. The platform keeps a written transcript of each call and a short summary of it, including how long it lasted and automatic ratings such as the call's tone. We use these to improve the assistant's answers. When a call starts, our server passes your IP address to the platform so it can limit how many calls one visitor makes. The call window is hidden from our Microsoft Clarity recordings.

Please don't say anything on a call that you wouldn't want written down, such as a password, a wallet recovery phrase or a card number. To ask for the transcript of your call to be deleted, contact us with the date and time of the call and we'll ask the platform to remove it.

Third-party services

A few outside companies process data for us:

  • GoHighLevel stores the newsletter list and sends the newsletter and welcome emails.
  • Mailgun delivers the messages you send through our forms to the editor's inbox.
  • UpViral runs the refer-a-friend program and sends its emails.
  • Microsoft Clarity provides the site analytics described above.
  • Agentic Agency runs the voice assistant described above, including the live calls and their transcripts.
  • Meta provides the Meta Pixel described above, which lets us show DMJ ads to people who have visited.
  • Namecheap hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers keep standard access logs.

If you submit a press release for distribution, your submitted content (not your personal contact details) may be published on this site and distributed to partner outlets as described in our Multimedia Packages. We don't share your personal contact information with those outlets.

Data retention

We keep form submissions only as long as we need them to answer you or provide the service you asked for. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe.

Your rights

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to show you, correct or delete any personal information you've given us, through our contact page or by emailing news@defimarketjournal.com.
